ATLAS and Its Competitors

Synopysys Sentaurus Device, Dessis and Medici

ATLAS is a general purpose 2D and 3D device simulator that characterizes the electrical, optical, and thermal performance of semiconductor devices. ATLAS can be used in place of Sentaurus Device, Dessis or Medici device simulators and provides the following key features:

  • Accurately analyze the electrical, optical, and thermal performance of semiconductor devices in 2D or 3D
  • Solve yield and process variation problems for optimal combination of speed, power, density, breakdown, leakage, luminosity, or reliability
  • Fully integrated with ATHENA process simulation software, DEVEDIT structure generator, comprehensive visualization package, extensive database of examples, and simple device entry
  • Combined circuit and device simulation using SPICE netlists and SmartSpice models
  • Automatic conversion of Sentaurus Device and Dessis device simulator input decks via Silvaco run-time environment
  • MEDICI compatible syntax and automatic structure file conversion
  • DC, AC, noise and transient analysis
  • Drift-diffusion, thermodynamic, hydrodynamic, quantum, and galvanic transport equations
  • Built-in physical models account for mobility, recombination, impact ionization, traps, quantum, hot-carrier injection, tunneling, thermal, stress, anisotropic, optical generation, phase change, ferro-electric, radiation and degradation effects
  • Highly customizable physical models using built-in C-Interpreter or dynamically linked libraries
  • Material parameters and physical models for a wide range of Silicon, III-V, II-VI, IV-IV, or polymer/organic based technologies
  • Applications include conventional and deep submicron CMOS, thyristor, power MOSFET, IGBT, LDMOS, bipolar, SOI, Fin-FET, HEMT, HBT, TFT, oTFT, solar cell, organic solar cell, LED, oLED, image sensor, LASER, VCSEL, fuse, NVM, ferro-electric, magnetic, and PCM
  • Advanced multi-threaded numerical solver library
